A transformational analogy is a form of reasoning where one finds a situation that is an analogy of the current problem, andf then attemtps to transform the solution of the analogus problem to find a sokutikn. to the current one. For example, when faced with thenproblem of smplifying x3 × x5, one might use an analogy with 3x + 5x which you know simplfes ot 8x. Using the analogy that in algebra (multiplication.power) behaves like (adding, multiplying by numbers), you might then reason that x3 × x5 = x8.
